Gary,

The the plastic "screw posts" didn't survive. I guess the plastic is so brittle after 20 years, when I started working the retaining bolts off the plastic posts basically just snapped. The enclosures aren't too bad, but there is some discolorization on the white/clear part of the lense.

Bob, Thanks for the reply. That's the reason I'm looking for this one; Two mounting post broke on mine. Thank you anyway. Good luck with your other parts.

Gary

Yeah kind of a cheat design and at $49.99 for the light/lens and $19.99 for the bezel they're not giving them away. Since I'm doing a Daytona custom wide body, I'm going to repaint my Bezels and bite the bullet for new lens.

Bob That is outstanding; I do love a C3 wide body and the daytonas are the best. I added Hooker side pipes to mine and boy does it look good. Please post some pictures as you go. Welcome to the ranks of Daytona owners.:_rock

Actually, this will be my second one.

In 1985, I took my yellow 78 and had it converted at County Corvette in Little Rock, Ar. I that the full Ecklers Daytona Kit for that one. I watched periodically during the process, but was basically an inocent bystander. I later sold it to a guy in PA, to buy my first house. I tried periodically to track him down to offer to buy it back, but couldn't find him. I still have the VIN, but not his name. So, I decided to build another.

This time I'm doing it myself. A new friend of mine bought all the body molds from the now closed Greenwood facility in Sanford, Fl. Mine is kinda of the "test subject" of the newly acquired molds. We were missing a few parts like the rear "bath tub" tail. So we're having to build that from the Street Version.

When it's all done, we should have a complete set of molds and able to do some production work. I cried when I went over to Ecklers last year and they told me they had destroyed their molds.

BOB, what part of o-town are you in? i would like to meet you ,and see how your project is comming along.
plus i am curious about doing a daytona kit on my corvette. and since you're in the neighborhood.....well

Robin,

I live in Metro West, but my guy that's doing all the parts fabrication is in Sanford. The plan is to create a complete kit and so that it can be sold to others. We're getting to the point where we have several versions of the kits: GT, GTO, and Daytona.
This link will give you an idea of the different styles.

Robin & Bob

You missed out I just sold my Daytona for $10K. Also there is a company in Canada that is making the Daytona kits. They sometimes have listings on E bay under Body Kits Corvette. I think I still a a link for them somewhere if you would like me to look. I attached a picture of my Daytona as it sold. Bob if I can help in any way let me know.

Gary

Those are 295-50s with 10 inch rims on the back.

Gary,

Nice car, so what happened? Did you finish it or sell it as in the pix?
The place in Canada isn't Showcars by chance?

Do you happen to have the info on who you sold it to? I'm starting a list of Daytona and wide body owners. Ask them if they wouldn't mind.

Bob,

Yes that is Showcars. I sold it as you see it. I rebiuld the front body and filled all the seams. Take a look at my post Eckler Daytona Body Kit. I posted some pictures of the work I did to it.

As to whay happened, I've been out of work for about a year now and I had no choice but to sell. This had been my dream vette. I guess I'll just have to start over at a later time. I do love the Daytonas. My loss is his gain. I'll have the new owner get a hold of you.

Gary

Gary,

I can't find your post that contains additional pictures of your Daytona?

Bob

GARY, if i had the money on hand. i would have loved to buy yours, i am sure you know what it's like to be vehicle rich and cash poor.
turns out BOB lives just down the road from me, so i sure we'll be getting together soon.....

best to you

robin

Since the ones from my 80 have some discoloization and broken posts, I'm probably going to go over to Eckler's, since it's a short 30 minute drive from Orlando.
