For those of you that don't know, Tony Rudd worked for Lotus Engineering for many years and played a key role in the development of the ZR-1's LT5 engine. As posted over the ZR-1 Net:
Hi All,
Dave McLellan sent this info and fwded email to me this morning, Tony
Rudd Group Engineering Director at Lotus the during the development of
the LT5 engine has passed. Tony spent more than 50 years as an
engineer in the field of high performance engine development and Grand
Prix racing. If you are interested in learning more about the life of
Tony Rudd, his book "Tony Rudd, It was fun!" is out in hardback. I
have attached the email from his daughter below.

Dear all,
I think my sister Lesley has managed to make contact with all of
Daddy's friends now but I have just been through his address book and
forgive me if you have already heard of our terrible news but my father
died on Friday 22 August. Do contact Lesley or I for details of the
funeral. We have received so many kind words and tributes to Dad that
at the moment the feelings of pride in his achievements not just in the
world of cars but more importantly as a friend to so many outweigh the
feelings of sorrow and loss. The most important thing in my father's
life was my mother. He adored her. As I sit at his computer I can
feel him looking over my shoulder as he used to do when I tried to
impatiently show how around the internet. So, I think he knows how
much we all loved him and how we will honour his memory and how we are
going to take good care of Mum. I just wished he had seen our holiday
photos. He was not feeling well enough to join us in Ibiza but thanks
to his generosity we all went and had a fabulous time. The only thing
missing was him and Mum. He would have been alarmed to see his
grandsons leaping off the villa roof into the swimming pool but how
happy he was to hear how much they enjoyed their holidays. I could not
have wished for a better father and friend.
With best wishes,
Philippa Rudd
