i'd bet one thing for sure, it will sticker for less than a viper. my guess is, as far as price goes, GM wants to make it a no brainer as to which car to purchase. my guess is "loaded" at $67500

Where does this logic come from? The C5 Z06 was priced similarly to a loaded C5 vert so I'm expecting the same. How many people would GM expect to shell out $70K on a Chevy?

There are those who just gotta have it first!

I agree. But it's a small percentage of sales and it's overhead that GM will not see. Let's not confuse a dealer "market adjustment" with the MSRP as dictated by GM.

I'm not confusing the two. There will be those who either have enough money to pay MSRP and don't care or those who can't haggle good enough to pay less than MSRP.

What's the Z06 % going to be in relation to total production?

Wasn't the Z06 less than the full loaded convertible? I remember the Z at around $52K and the fully loaded convertible around $57-58.

I would think they would need to maintain their current percentages to make a return on the development costs. I think the C5 Z06 made up ~25% of total production and if MSRP is too high they will not maintain that percentage.

But we're also talking about a much bigger difference from C5 to C5 Z06. They're using the lighter materials, bigger brakes, the new motor, bigger wheels, etc...

Let someone else buy the new Z06 and get the title. As soon as they get a title the car looses like half of its value. Wait a year or two and they will be very reasonable to purchase, well, still not for me but for many others I'm sure.

Actually you're correct Bob. The base Z06 was $52,985 while a maxed out vert was $57k. I was running from memory where the $55k was with the options I dreamed of, Z51 and no Magnetic ride control. ;) Z51 was $400 while the MRC was $1600.

We were dreaming together. All beautiful cars but I wanted that maxed out convertible. The South has convertible weather about 8 months of the year. :upthumbs

You guys don't know what cold is!:L If I lived in FL, I would consider it convertible weather year round.:L:L:L Then again, I am used to the dreadful Chicago winters.

My mom grew up in Chicago. We were military and were all over the world. Would visit the grandparents when travle brought us through the area.

Never spent a Winter in Chicago though I hear they are brutal. Last time we were there was late 60's, 68 I think, during the political convention. The two weeks we spent there in the middle of the Summer was as hot and humid as anyplace I have been. Now it probably only lasts a short time where here in Atlanta it goes from late June to early September.

I grew up in northern NY near Watertown where we got all the lake effect but never warmed enough to ever melt snow. Our first snows were in November around Thanksgiving with the stuff finally melting away in May. My last winter in NY I saw -50F so I don't ever want you to say I don't know what cold is. ;)

For more info check this thread out.

Thanksgiving to May? That is rough!:cry Look on the bright side: you'd only need to buy 6 months of insurance on the Corvette if you still lived there.:L

2006 Z06 pricing

We have alot of knowledgeable GM folks on this website. I'm sure it goes without saying but as soon as it is "officially" available, will someone please post the MSRP of the new Z06 in this thread? I know I'd like to see it having just sold my 2004 convertible...

I'm still saying < 70K. If not, GM has forgotten the ZR1 pricing problems.:nono

I hope so! The C5 Z06 could run with/over cars that cost more than it. It'll be amazing to see what the C6 Z06 will do to cars twice it's price.:D

I totally agree and Dave Hill has made several statements about making the ZR1 pricing mistake (which he has used in reference to a "Blue Devil" super car). GM will likely do the right thing with pricing.
