Finally got a chance to put my 92 convertible up on my lift and give it a good going over. What to my surprise, there is a large X brace on the frame.

Now I have seen these advertised to tighten up the convertible so I assumed that there was nothing under there. Can anyone tell me if this was a stock piece or an aftermarket addition. This car has no obvious modifications and appears to have what is listed on the inside of the arm rest as FE1 which according to the model center is "soft ride suspension" Seems odd someone would make this kind of handling modification on the base suspension.

What's the good news?

Yes Griz, that is a stock factory cross brace which was used to de-flex the chassis as you've read. The hard tops give the chassis a stiff integrity and did not need the brace.

Verts all got em, whether the coupes needed them is clearly debatable at best. ;)
