The brackets that bolts to the windshield headers....the one the top fits into to lock.....the same brackets that the sun visors bolt into....

well mine has worn down to the point that it wont engage to tighten.

the new dealer supplied part is @$123......each.....ouch! has anyone ever tried to fix this part? Or is there a cheaper source?

will welding some metal on to it work? or drilling the studs out and tapping in a replacement?

Do you have the GM part number? If so. go to www.gmpartsdirect.com and see what they charge. It wil be the same part, just available from another GM source besides the dealer.

GMpartsdirect sell thier parts at cost. If you cannot find the part in their catalog call them and they will be able to help you with your part. Their cost is typically half of the dealer list price so you should be able to get it around $65 or so. This is the path I would take to make sure the job was done correctly.
