I'm a new Corvette owner and still smiling a lot! :cool (2002 Millenium Yellow Convertible)

What is the recommendation for caring for a canvas convertible top. Specifically, any water proofing/protection required on an ongoing basis? What product have people had success or been happy with?

Thanks in advance

For washing, I prefer a cloth top shampoo that is produced by Porsche. Used in conjunction with a closed cell sponge it is excellent at gently cleaning the top.

As far as treating the top with a fabric protector, that is something that should be done when the top no longer beads water, but rather the water soaks into the top (not what you want). I have used 303 Fabric Guard on my cloth top and feel that it is very effective. Not only does it repell water, but it repells dirt as well, which helps prevent staining.

303 Fabric Guard comes in an aerosol can (VERY messy) and a trigger spray (almost just as bad). What I have done is purchase the trigger spray and pour some of the fabric guard into a small cup, and using a foam paintbrush I have applied it by brushing it onto the top. A word of caution: once in contact with your paint, the fabric guard is stubborn to remove - that is why I apply it the way I do. Always allow your top to dry 100% before folding it down.

With proper care, the top should last a long time. Both of the products that I have mentioned can be found at www.properautocare.com
