I want to flush my coolant system. I was planning to disconnect the upper radiator hose, remove the radiator cap, run the engine, and fill the radiator as it dumps out of the disconnected upper hose. Which side of the upper radiator hose do I disconnect? The radiator side or the engine side? In other words, is the coolant flowing from the radiator to the engine through the upper hose or vice versa?

Flows to engine via lower hose. So you may want to disco the upper hose from rad end. That way you can direct the discharge from the t-stat.

Wanew, go to Pep Boys or Autozone and buy a flushing T kit. it goes inline on the heater hose(s) . once connected it will be a permanent add-on to the system. then you can flush the coolant anytime.
also it is much easier to flush. you hook up to the garden hose ,remove the cap and run water thru. you can also run the motor to flush all the internals. once the clear water flows out ,you are done.almost as simple as reading this posting.

hope this helps

Heater hose? Do you mean the upper or lower radiator hose (for the inline T-kit?) I'm new, but I'm a quick learner! Thanks for the reply!

No, he means one of the two smaller hoses. It doesn't mater which one that you put the T in. The smaller hoses would be the 3/4 id hose that comes off the passenger side of the water pump or the 5/8 id hose that comes off the intake manifold front passenger side. I guess that it depends on what size the T ends are (3/4" or 5/8")
