Coolant Flush

When I purchased my 1990 in November it came with low mileage and the previous owner(s) had never changed the original coolant. The very first thing I did when I got it home was to change it with fresh antifreeze and water.
It is much better now but still is a little bit murky. Should I use a purchased "coolant flush" or just repeatedly exchange with clear water until it clears?

I'm confused. Do you mean something that you have already bought but have not used? Have you used a "coolant flush" treatment before this, and this would make a second flush with treatment? :confused

No, I have not purchased any treatments that are unused. I just took it to the local dealer who did a coolant flush and put in fresh antifreeze.
My question is...should I purchase a commercial coolant flush/cleaner or should I flush with clear water a few times? And I guess also, are the commercial chemical cleaners safe to use?

Maybe I'm still not clear (I read my note again!). The dealer did not use any chemicals...just flushed the old antifreeze and replaced with new antifreeze.

You could use them, but if you already flushed it with a treatment you should not need a second treatment, usually. I'd simply flush it real good with fresh water until it runs clear.

The chemical treatment is usually only necessary if you have severe clogging problems, which you'll never encounter on your Corvette; the tanks will deteriorate first, they're usually the first thing to go anyway.

Thanks Ken. That was the answer I was looking for. I haven't used any commercial cleaners yet but was wondering if they were worth while.
Flushing with clean water (even a couple times) is certainly cheaper! I was just disappointed that the dealer flush didn't bring it as crystal clean as I'd hoped.
I will flush it again myself with fresh water...then add new antifreeze. I presume the usual green antifreeze is appropriate with these cars?

:L I ain't gonna go there, I'll just say whatever it came with, or whatever you have faith in. Either way, as long as the system is clean, you should have no problems.
