Well started off as a presure test of system everythng ok, replaced radiator cap and refill radiator. Now I have a good leak coming from somewhere close to lower radiator hose at water pump. Replaced lower hose still leaks, I can see the weep hole at top of pump no leak? Any Ideas? Now I seem to have a click noise sometimes while standing at the engine.

How long is the process for someone with tools and some basic knowledge to replace water pump on 1986 c4. Any special tricks or hidden demons in this process?

Thanks
David

I am sorry I forgot to ask where to buy water pump. Corvette america is half the price of ecklers but I don't know if it is GM? Is it important that the part be GM or remanufactored.

David

THANKS

Maybe a stupid question but are you sure the wp is installed correctly? The weep hole is at the bottom not the top.

I figure the wp is on right since the hoses line up from the radiator. I don't know alot about the car? Any ideas on the water pump gm or reman? Any ideas on how long it will take to change out?

Your 86 came with the L98 engine, very similar to the origianl Chevy small block. A water pump change shouldn't take more than an hour.

Forget the Corvette specific places for your water pump. Jegs, summit, or the local auto parts stores should have what you need without the corvette tax.

Napa is about $60.00 and took me about an hour to change my 88 coupe. Not hard at all.:)
