While driving my 95 vette over the 4th, the low coolant light came on and I could smell antifreeze, I stopped the car and checked, but the car is not low on coolant and I find no sign of a leak. I checked all the hoses, waterpump, etc and everything in dry as a bone. I drove the car another 75 miles or so to get it home with the light coming on and off and the temp staying normal. When I get the car home I open the hood to the smell of antifreeze, but no leak and the coolant if full, any advise?

-could be the heater core

-did you check the underside of the waterpump? (just feel under it for wetness)

-could be pinhole leak in the radiator or other hose

could it be the head gasket letting antifreeze into the combustion chamber, or maybe a small pressure leak that needs the motor revved to leak??
the demon will show itself in time just hope it's not a head gasket.mike

Double check behind the waterpump, the weep hole that drains the rear seal/bearing dribbles down over the optispark housing and is very difficult to see if it is in fact seeping. That's the usual suspect area to check on the LT1 and LT4 engines. Also, if your reservoir tank appears full, but you are still getting the low coolant light, it may be a defective radiator cap. It may not be allowing the coolant to flow TO the system when the engine cools down. Also, (not to insult your intelligence) make certain you are seeing the actual coolant level, not a stain in the reservoir tank. I was fooled once while making a cursory inspection on my 93 Z07, I didn't open the cover to peer in, just looked at the level from the outside. In actuality, it was empty...:eek
