Here is another one.

All gauges work except the water temp gauge on the IP.

My guess is the sending unit. Is that the one I have to remove the plenum to get to?

Thanks

Bob

I don't know for sure the location of the sender you are looking for, but do have some suggestions. Since you have the wiring diagrams in your FSM, find the one for the gauge and see what color wire/wires go to the sending unit, compare that to the color of the wires going to the easily accessible sending unit in the Rt. side cylinder head. On my LT1 that is the one for the gauge not the EFI and I suspect it is on your L98 too.
Since you already know you have one cut wire running between the engine and passenger compartments I would check the wiring before buying any more parts, there may be more than one wire severed in the harness.

In pass side head between # 6 and 8 plugs (by dipstick).
Ground that wire out and see if the gauge moves.
Sensor under plenum is IAT ; inlet air temp

I found the sending unit and it was unpluged , It probably happened when they changed spark plugs.

problem is, the plastic piece is destroyed and the metal tang wont stay on without it.

Are they still avaliable? I know that type was used on alot of cars.
