trying to get ready for the strip next week . i find that every time i get on it 1/4mile run the temp goes to upper middle of the gauge . soon as i let off it goes down to a 1/4 where it normally sitts . i have pressure tested the system and dye tested for head gasket leaks and both tests show system holds pressure , and dye test negitive . is my water pump going or is there a hose i should ck out ?

The stock gauges in 90-95 are horribly inaccurate.

The 90s do not display coolant temp in the IP as do later models. I seem to recall there is a way to put coolant temp on the hvac display if you have C68. I think the instructions on how to do this are in the FSM. The display is in deg-C so you'll have to mentally convert.

The other way to see coolant temp is with a scan tester.

I'd find out what the actual ECT is before I start buying parts.

You also need to make sure there is no debris stuck in the cooling stack and make sure the front air dam is in place and fully functional.
