Hello

I would like to know what the correct camshaft is for the 1969 2nd design L88 motor.

I serarched this, but there is different answers.....I have som alternatives.

Alt.1 Casting 3928911, P/N 3928909.
Dur. in 334, ex.364. Lift in. 0.540, ex 0.560.

Also heard that the P/N 3928909 camshaft had 354 / 360 .560” .584” ?

Alt. 2 The P/N 3959180 camshaft...(ZL1 cam) 354 / 360 .579” .620”

I also have this info:

Camshaft INT Dur EXH Dur Overlap INT Lift* EXH Lift* PN
Early L88 352 364 136 .558” .580” 3879605
Late L88 354 360 133 .560” .584” 3925535

SO I would like to know whats the CORRECT camshaft for the 1969 2nd design L-88.

Thanks

3928909 is the right PN for L88 in MY69 but, what's got me confused is the term "1969 2nd design L88 motor". That term implies there was a first design and second design L88 in 1969 and all the info I have shows that not to be the case. In fact, my info is that in none of the three years of L88 production was there a case of a "first design" and "second design". Typically GM uses that nomenclature only in cases where a design changes during the model year.

That said, there were two, production, L88 camshafts. PN 3925535 which was MY67 only and PN 3928909 which was MY68 and 69.

My information shows the camshaft profile for all L88s to be the same.
.562" intake lift
.584" exhaust lift
354-deg intake duration at .006" lift
360-deg. exhaust duration at .006" lift.

Making this even more interesting is that some service parts information I have from the early-mid-70s, including a Corvette parts book dated 10/70, shows PN 3925535 as the only service replacement camshaft for "67-69 Corvette w. H.D./427" which was the GM Parts nomenclature for an L88.

I think the 2nd design L88 is the 1969 verison, the 074 heads insted of the 842, 12,0 instead of 12,5 komp ect, that is what I heard.

So both the 3928909 and 3925535 had the same profile?

I just found this page on this website...
http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/l88/l88engine.html

We can agree that there was one camshaft in 67, and another in 68-69....but here it says the lift I have heard....540/560" ?
