What did the installation look like when the car left the factory?
My car has been changed since then, cant find info about this matter in either Chilton or Haynes repair manual.
Anyone who have a picture explaining this, or knows where to find one?
(how many grooves shall the pulleys have, on which groove shall the belts be installed?
Corvette -72, 454, PS, AC.
A/C compressor is missing, planning to put it back in later on.
Hoping for some help.

Do you have the '72 Assembly Manual? It shows all the possible combinations of belt routings with different options (which isn't shown anywhere else).

I don't have a copy of the '72 config but believe that they are the same as the 73 LS4 which is shown below. Hope this helps.

Thank you Guys!

The picture made me a little bit wiser, one groove is missing on my water pump pulley. Then it confused me even moore, a new item showed up - idler...
Has that one something to do with AC?
On the upper right figure i is missing, how can correct belttension be maintained between crank/ waterpump pulleys without it?
Did lookaround in previous threads, belts and pulleys are a matter of great confusion!
Assembly manual seems to be a neccessity when working with older corvettes.

The idler was only used on A/C cars. It is a small idler that only works on the inner most belt that runs between the crank and water pump.
