Does anyone know of anyone using fiberglass front and rear bumpers in order to hide the lines between bumpers and body? I think it would meake the vette have avery smooth and finished look if the parting line could be fill with a body filler and then when a paint job was done you would appear to have one solid smooth body.

Pics would be great if anyone has done this, I would love to know how you did it.

It does make for a clean look but it will likely crack at the seam later down the road. Also it will make for major repairs to fix a minor accident.

Wow. Mine's like that and I didn't know that wasn't normal!

..and you're right, I don't so much have cracks on lines, but they were sloppy in putting filler over the attching bolts. So there are usually visible seems there, huh? Well I'll be a garden toad eatin' june bugs!

I did wonder what would happen if it ever got hit!

Since mine has the late C3 style nose and butt, I s'pose that may also have played a bit in their choice to "grind it 'n glass it" over.

My 74 was done by a professional about 3 years ago and it still looks great. No cracks. I also replaced the rear split bumper with a one piece. I think its like anything else, if its done properly, it'll be fine. Pics are in my gallery.

thanks for the opinions, I was just kicking the idea around just for fun. But I think if i did get in a fender bender it would make a big deal out of a little repair. So maybe I will hold til the next vette.

On a related note, are there any good websites that tell how to do body prep work and paint on a vette. The body is in decent shape with a few minor cracks but I would like to do the prep and paint myself and Its time to start thinking about getting my resources together
