I'm an independent automotive designer that specialized in exotic car design and body kit design. I do all fo my design work with 3D modeling software, so you can expect impressive previews of what the kit will look like before it ever hits production. I will be designing a variety of styling options (bodykits) for the C6.

What I would like is to initially collect opinions. Feel free to express opinions including...
  • What you like better/worse on the C6 compared to the C5.
  • What you like/dislike about C6, or what you would change
  • Your list of 5 favorite cars (non-corvette), and include any special notes for each car if something in particular makes it special.

Current plans are to do four main modifications.
  • The first will be approximately a replacement front bumper, rear bumper, and sideskirt.
  • The second is a custom hood.
  • The third is a collection of miscellaneous MODS including a cool headlight modification (which I'll explain later), custom exhaust tips, and other small items on the car.
  • The last one is a widebody kit that will be carbon fiber and replace most exterior panels on the car(hood, fenders, bumpers, etc...).

I just started working on the 3D model of the default C6, and hope to have that done soon.

my opinion

This my opinon, how ever, I did not see the vette in real. Only from pictures and trailers.

First I think the new vette is to commercial, I think the real vettelovers would like a more "fat" car. More hood, no funny rear spoiler.

John

Yeah. I understand. I do agree about the spoiler.

I think one of the biggest things I need to correct is the "apparent size". The new C6 is smaller, both in dimensions and in visual appearance. If we can make it wider/longer in appearance (especially the hood), more muscular (especially the nose), and curvier, I think we'll have something untouchable.

re:

I was building and designing with my friend a race body for my C4 vette, in carbonfiber ofcourse. But I crashed my vette a few months ago, so that project stopped.

But I was lucky to buy me a C5, and aspirations went on. Now we are starting to build a new "bold on" highrise hood, front bumper and rear. The plans are ready, I payed him also, so in a few weeks he starting with it. It is for own use, not for comercial things. It is only what I think my vette should be like.

What ever we talked and though about, ower priority was alway: it must be a vette, it must be a C5 and not " overdone " The design should be " smooth" " cool" " rich " "beautifull" and most of all : AWSOME!!

It seems your project should turn out well from your description. Good luck dude!

Back to my project....

I have started the project & have a little bit of progress. I would have more done right now if my last client didn't lose his mind.

Body kit 1 "sketch"

Body kit 1 is the body kit that will be PFRP (except the hood) & cost less. This doesn't show that much yet, but I decided to sketch out one of hte ideas that was floating around my head.

Current progress...

Dont forget about a spot for the front license plate.

Do you have a view of the rear yet?

I haven't sketched the rear body kit design yet if that is what you're asking for. I'm first building the default C6. About the front license plate, does anyone know where it goes by default?

I would change that off color area around the exhaust and the 3rd brake light. How about a small wing, just to see how it would look?

Very nice 3d design study. What 3d software are you using? I'm a technical illustrator and I use Illustrator 9.0 and Photoshop to get me 3d affects. It would be nice to learn a 3d software program, not to mention all the time it would save me.

Best Regards,
Mike

From what I see so far from Hib's report I like the C5 much better. The C6 front looks like a next generation Camaro with Viper headlights. The Enzo is the most impressive to date.

Your drawings are unbelievablem most impressive. How accurate can you get uising these methods?

Thanks

I’ll probably change that. In fact, you are likely to see a completely different setup for the diffuser and third brake light on all of the kit designs.

I currently use 3DS max and Rhinoceros. I need to know more specifically what you plan to do with the 3D software before I can make recommendations. Send me an email at phantomcars@hotmail.com if you want some advice on that.

I kind of noticed the same. It looks like the Camaro got assimilated by the C6. Thanks for the input/opinions.

This “drawing method” is computer 3D graphics/3D modeling. I can rotate the 3D model to any angle, take pictures of it, apply special effects, and even animate it for things like police car chases.

How accurate? That depends on the skill level of the 3D modeler & the amount of time they want to invest. Theoretically you could get 100% accurate, but the time required for that is ridiculous. I’m aiming for around 98.5% accuracy on the form of the car, and around 96% accuracy on the dimensions. That is near impossible to do if you only use photographs for reference, but I’m a very advanced car modeler.

Have you done anywork on the C5 suspension? I have been trying to obtain the C5 suspension parameters but have not had any success.

Thanks,

MarkEE

I will have this year a new complete suspention on my C5. Leaffs removed and full-race 3-way titanium coilovers installed. mail me if you want to know more.

I’ve been making some progress on the 3D model of the default Corvette C6. I’ve been getting more and more ideas for body kits for the corvette & decided to absorb a couple of my other projects into the corvette project. I still have a lot of work left to do, but you can preview my current progress below.

Very nice work!

What else are you planning on doing with it, It looks finished to me.

How much wider are the wheels on a wide body kit? (for a corvette)
that depends how wide the maker of the car wants them. Wider wheels provide more grip but they also increase drag and can make the ride quaility suffer. So its whatever you want. Personally if I were going all out I would go as big as possible.
