Yes, I've posted this before on the other Forum, but I need the practice to post here anyway. This chart is out of the '95 Corvette Quarterly, published by GM and is their assessment, at the time, of what's hot and what's not...FWIW :eek

Over 40 views PJ67, and no responses to date!

I guess those of us doing well on the chart are simply happy with our position......those of us NOT doing well on the chart are too busy :cry to comment.
 
Wow. I'm happy. Both a 1970 and the LT-1 option. Though I would have assumed that the 1976 would be more desireable.
 
Interesting chart. Sounds about like what I would expect, but it doesn't match my personal preferences (even aside from '58). And I know better than to state which cars I think are ranked too high! ;)

Although these might not be in the same order as I would put them I think they are right as far as all the cars up to the rubber bumper cars. I don't understand why the '77 was the top pic. It is basically the same as the '75 and '76. I think they should be grouped together at the bottom. Now I'm not bad talking these cars I'm just looking at each one's individuality. The '75 convertible should near the top of the list. Also the '74 being the last big block. The '82s were the last Shark and the '81s were the last carb and 4 speed and have a large following. The '80 was the last L82. Of course the '78s were popular with the 25th Anniversy Editions and the Pace Car.

I actually find it hard to put them in order unless you consider convertibes, big blocks and Pace Cars ect. ect. seperately.
 
Overly Simplified

I think the chart is too simplistic to be of any real value. There are too many variables that adjust the desirability of Corvettes that don't have much to do with the year.

Some obvious examples:

FI vs. normally aspirated cars.
BB vs. SB cars
Coupes vs. Convertables.
Rare vs. common options.

For instance, would you prefer a 67SB Coupe to a 68 L-88 convertable? According to the chart the 67 is more desirable. . .

It's a good start, but not all too useful in the real world of shopping for vettes.
 
The chart is way, way too simplistic and not simply because my 73 scores so low (which makes absolutely no sense) but because it doesn't represent to diversity within the years. You're gonna tell me a BB shark isn't more desirable than a base engine, even within the same year? That doesn't hash.

Yes Mac, it does appear to be very generic. It takes more than this chart to determine the desirablity and worth of a particular Corvette, no matter what the year.

Just because an individual car is rare doesn't necessarily mean it's desirable, i.e. a Midyear Corvette with a factory 3-speed is rare, but by no means desirable. ;)

I guess they got the early cars right at least.

The straight axle list seems pretty jumbled to me. I think I'd have started with the 62 at the top and counted backwards in order.

I can't agree with the 70 being ranked ahead of the 69, which I think is totally out of touch with reality since the 70 didn't have a SHP big block. (I have a 70 LS5 roadster along with the 69's, so I don't think I'm biased) I would rate the 68's below the 69 & 70, but with the special high perf engines available, certainly not below the 71 & 72.

The other surprise is the 73. I'd certainly think it'd be higher than the late 70's stuff. There's just no figuring why a 77 would be at the top of the category and a 76 at the bottom. I guess the whole rubber bumpers list seems unexplainable.

There are so many questions that would make a nice answer to, not that I am against the rubber bumper cars.

Interesting list there ;)

My list would be a little different:

Early Years = 1955

Straight Axle = 1958 (fuelie)

Midyear = 1967 (both the Coupe and the Converible)

Chrome = 1971 LT1

Rubber Bumper = 1981 (Coupe), 1974 BB Convertible

Of these I've had a 1954, 1967 Convertible, 1974 and 1981.
 
Its all way to subjective under any scenario.... I know that the ricers in this small corner of the world would rank a '66 BB roadster (Silver, please.... ;) ) WAY up toward the top of the list........ :s :bu
