So, to approach this from a slightly different angle, what exactly is an undesirable Corvette?

Good lawd, what a play on words. I guess my question should have been: "Isn't it possible to exactly duplicate a 67 L88 hood by taking a stock hood, bonding the air box underneath and cutting required holes, thereby being undetectable from a hood that was a factory 67 L88 hood?" I don't know the answer with certainty myself or I wouldn't have asked in the first place.

As far as the Eckler's L88 air boxes, I've never seen the 67 style, but when I finally tracked my 69 L88 car down, some idiot had butchered the area under the hood that holds the air cleaner. I bought the Eckler's 68/69 style replacement and when I got it, it was hand laid up, so I ended up buying a whole hood from a used parts vendor, and my original is a dust catcher in my storage building.
