Was there a special edition corvette with a 497 big block as a stock engine. A friend said she saw one dating between 1965 and 1974.

No C3 that I know of. I honestly don't know enough about C2s, though. The biggest big block for the C3 is the 454. That came in the 70s. The power plants of the late 60s were the 427.

Nope. No production Corvette big block of that size....at least not in this universe. :D

Uh... did she mean 396? '65's big block was 396 before being replaced by the 427 in 66.

Oh, and can she narrow the model years down? 65-74 covers 2 different generations and several different body changes. Then again, maybe she can't. My brother and sister in-laws were trying to describe a 'vette that's parked in their underground and couldn't decide if it was the same generation as mine (a C3) even when I showed them pictures of C2s and C3s!! ;shrug

The only "big blocks" in a Vette were:

396ci in 65
427ci in 66-69
454ci in 70-74

That's all.
