Corvette insert help needed

Can someone tell me where these stick on inserts go and what year Corvettes they were for? They look like the center of the gas door emblem on the 75-76's. But were those emblems sold without the inserts? They measure 1 3/4".

I am not so sure about the emblems being for a center cap (Rim/Tire) Here are the Emblems for years:

1976 ~ 1979

1980 ~ 1981

I am thinking maybe your emblem is for the steering wheel , as I recall the ones for the Valve Covers are Crossed Flags with the Black back round and the bottom is notched for a specific fit..

Those are actually aftermarket center cap decals!
GM's was a little different!
