Another "Corvette Maintenance For Dummies" post

'75 L-48: Of the eight bolts used to secure the seats to the floor, two are shorter. Where should they be placed? Also, what type of screws are used fasten the rear portion of the of the center console (parking brake, etc.) to the front portion (shifter, etc.). Phillips head? Chrome or black? Washers? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I modified the title of the thread to hopefully attract a little more attention and to knock it back up to the top of the forum.

Seat Bolts

I dont have a 75 I have a 76 but I think they are the same, I just replaced the carpeting on my car and the seat bolts were installed with the shorter (not much shorter) on the front mounts and the Longer on the rear seat mounts, the console screws are chrome phillip heads with the built in washer, about 3/4 inch long. Hope this helps

Thanks. However, there are only two shorter bolts, the other six are longer. Would both go on the driver front? Both on the passenger front? One each? and if so, on the door side or console side of the seat?

I thought mine were all the same size on my 77 but that was last year. Do you have an AIM? While it won't show the actual bolt sizes, it would show whether they are the same or different numbers, which would allow you to determine where the 2 go.

Vendors like The Last Detail sell interior kits for around $25 that have these and numerous other screws for the interior. I have used the screws in the kit for the dash, the center console, the door panels and pulls as well as a couple of other places. Seems pricey for a bag of screws until you consider how many trips you will make to the hardware store trying to get them.

Checked my 1973 AIM (closest I have), but it shows that the rear tunnel side bolt is a different part number than the other three. So that means front and outer rear are the same bolt.

I recently had the driver side seat out, on my 75, to repair the seat belt that would not retract. I believe that the longer bolts were in the rear. They would fit in either location. I found this out because I forgot where they came from either. I found that the shorter bolts barely caught any threads because the rear hole was deeper. In the front holes, the threads are close to the top of the hole.

Thanks, everyone. I know it seemed like a bit of a silly question but I just want to put everything back the right way; also, I was not sure if I'd contact something underneath the frame if I used one of the longer bolts in the wrong location. C U later. Being a newbie is so painful...
