Can someoone tell me what year(s) Corvette used metal floor assembly under the seats and over the hump, and Is this part avaliable. Thanks Elifino

HI there,
The tunnel, where the shifter and the console is located, it all metal.
The floor, however, is a balsa and composite fiberglass sandwich. This is bonded, using adhesive, to the steel frame underneath.
All parts are available separately. The panels for the floor will have to be adhered per GM guidelines and the metal pieces will have to be cut out and welded into correct position and alignment with the other panels.

I have to ask- I am curious as to why....

What is so wrong with your vette that you need a new floor board? Was it wrecked? Dropped off a lift?

I thought some of the C3s used a metal floor. My '70 doesn't, but I though that the later (I don't know how much later) C3s did have metal floors.

I have an GM oem floor board and before I listed it for sale I wanted to make sure exactally what it is...I can post a picture. thanks elifino

In the C3 world they started using metal floor pans in '76 due to the heat caused by the cat converters. Don't know about the C4/C5 world.

tom...

The C4s has an aluminum floor under the seating area, beginning about six-to-nine inches in front of the seat, extending to the rear bulkhead. The center console area is fiberglass (or some form thereof).

76-82 has metal sections in the floor to prevent damage from heat coming off the cat converter.

No metal in the floor of any 53-75 or 84-05.

Hib, if it ain't metal under my seat, then whatever it is sure sounds like metal when you bang on it with a hammer, and it bends too.

Mine was dented all to hell from a previous encounter with a jack at the track, and I straightened it by hammering it back in shape. Mine is a 1987 model year,
