The last thing my 87 coupe broke was the power brake booster. Since it was already in the shop, I had to find one soon, so I could not order it from the usual Mid America or Corvette Central catalogue. A local GM parts distributor wanted $500.00 for a new booster!!!!!!!!!!:mad :mad :mad Now, what would make this part so expensive?:confused :confused :confused Like I said, Mid America has one for about $225.00, less than half of the local distributor's price but the shop would not keep my car until the part arrived by mail. So, I had to settle for a rebuilt unit that cost $375.00:r Looking for used Corvette parts in local salvage yards is not an option. Nobody knows where wrecked Corvettes go to in Puerto Rico. Since this is a small island (only 100 X 35) there are not so many Corvettes around as in most states.
Now, my question is: since a Corvette is basically a Chevrolet, is there a parts list that shows what parts are interchangeable between a Corvette and other GM cars? I know that certain parts like the car's computer may not interchange with other GM cars, but mechanical parts like brake boosters, master cylinders and others may be. Any suggestions?:beer

Wow, $375 for a rebuilt unit? I paid $125 for a rebuilt unit and I thought that was expensive.

Do you know anyone in the states who could ship the parts to you?

Yeah, a lot of the parts are interchangeable. I don't think there is a list like that, it would be impracticle.

Edmond, hello. I don't know anyone in the states, except some old geezers uncles of mine that don't know the difference between a Corvette and a wheelchair. :gap

Hi Al:
Yes ... go to a larger auto junkyard ... the standard reference interchange book/software is "Hollander"... just call around to some of the yards and ask if they have a Hollander interchange (book or software don't matter). When you find one that has it, look up the part for your year vette ... that part will have a hollander code ... then look up that code in another section of hollander and it'll show you each and every model that part fits ... if it fits anything else. Looking up stuff in hollander is SOP on mainland. I have one (a hollander book) ... but it goes up through only 1974. Hollander is NOT vette specific ... it's for all cars-trucks. G'luck.

Jack,

I don't think they have a larger junk yard in Puerto Rico.:L

There ARE larger junkyards in Puerto Rico. They just don't have Corvettes in them.:Buttslap
