Whats up everyone, I've been on vacation for 2 weeks, while on vacation I saw a C5 in a BRIGHT red, it almost had a flourescent look to it. I know they have a blood red but this red is so tempting. Does anyone know the color code to this GM hue and what year it came out. Any leads or info would be appreciative.

Johnny

Johnny, Its called Torch Red. I don't know the color code. You might consider a more blood red unless you like orange. In many lighting situations the car will look orange.

So if its called Torch Red then what the name of the normal red that you see so commonly throughout the streets. Thanks for the prompt reply. Any know any links to GM color code numbers? Thanks

Johnny

I think it is called "Arrest Me Red!" ( Not really)

Randy;)

No, really!
Mine is just called "bright red" on the window sticker and is close to a Ferarri type of red...

Bright Red was used until 93 when Torch Red replaced it. It has been used on the remaining C4's and all C5's. It will be replaced on the C6 with Precision Red.

As you can guess by the name, Torch Red is designed to have a orange tint in direct lighting. This is very noticable if the car is sitting next to a car with Bright Red. As to the color code, don't have that info.

Gorgon; I take it that bridge behind your car in your avatar is the start of the I-1 through the Keys? I am planning a quick trip down just to drive to KW and back (in a rental tang I guess) and wondered if you had any advice?
Not hijacking the thread, sorry...

Johnny, I really like the Bright Red thats on my car. If you want a really deep red, you might check out the new SSR or new Viper. I believe both are a deep blood red.

When I get home I'll look in my Black Book and get the code for you.

Johnny,

After looking on the web a bit, it looks like the color code is 81. I'll verify this later.

Thanks alot for everyone who's been looking into this.

Johnny

My black book says the code for a 91 is 81 Bright Red. Torch red for a 97 code is 70. A 1979 Corvette Red is a code 72. I still like the Arrest me RED for a color and it looks like I have alot of company. Nice rides RJSROCKET and SURFNSUN. You show excellent taste in color!!!!:cool

Whoops left out GORGON. Cool ride, nice view.

Rocket, the bridge in my avatar is a causeway that connects US1 to A1A on the beach side. There are three or four such causeways in the Melbourne area. I haven't personally made the trip to the Keys, so I'm probably not much help.

Here's another shot from the same photo shoot as the avatar.
