Are there official registries for our Corvettes? I mean, if we want information, then we'll look up the one and only registry. Is that how it is?

If so, the '78 one is very very lacking (http://www.vettefinders.com/78Registry/). Ya think there might be a way to a bunch of us '78 owners to take over that ship and put a lot of time and work into making a really nice '78 registry? I mean, it should be a place to go to. And that above one is not very convincing.

Ideas/suggestions?

Well I'm not sure how to do it; I'm not a computer guy,but I would like to see a good one. I'd help in anyway I can. I now own my 3rd 78 and think that they are kinda forgotten about by many. let me know if I can help in some little way.

You won't need to be a computer guy. I will need people (just like you) to get and gather information. And then I can lay it out on a site. I need a couple more people like you, Gary. And another "computer person" would be helpful too.

Stallion , I like your style ! Instead of complaining about what isn't there , your going to do something positive to make it better .:) ATTA BOY ! Cliff

Thanks for the kind words. Just let me know what you are needing and I'll see what I can come up with. I have a lot of back issues of Corvette News and some Factory manuals for 78 put away somewhere. I have a pretty good digital camera and hoping for a new scanner soon. If it works out I can put a lot of stuff on disk once I get the money for the new scanner.

I don't know if any of this is what you are looking for, but it may be of some good. Just let me know and I'll do what I can.

Well, first off what we need initially is server space and a domain name. After that, it should be smooth sailing. Maybe Rob could give is a little server space? :D Actually, I don't even know who/where he gets it from, and that might be a little "forward" asking him for some. Though we wouldn't need a lot.

Also, there can be a forum for the registry dedicated to soley 1978 Corvettes, the documentation of them, repairs, modifications. It shoudl just be a site that 1978 Corvette owners will flock to for information and a community of other '78s.

What do you think?

Sounds good to me. I was think of a place with factory spec, parts & repair help,
Modification and a place for 78 owner to meet & talk. Then see where it goes from there. I just don't know if CAC has the room to add another Registry or not.
I have a friend that purchased my 78 Eckler Daytona a couple of months ago. Well anyway he works as a computer systems & web site builder. He may be able to help you on some of that kind of stuff. I'll contact him and see if he would like to help. Also if you want to contact me directly, you can at

Hey count me in either as computer assistance or research, I have a start on some 1978 production data I gathered over the last few years. My web site is a bit scrambled right now between work and school I am a bit pressed for time. I will post my site later from home the web servers at work are acting strange this afternoon.

I think this is a great idea, Stallion. I'll look around and see what I can contribute, as far as information, too.

You may want to contact Bud (Rare81) and see how the L81 Registry works and set up a 1978 Registry in the same manner.

Ah, I didn't see that listing. But even so, you guys don't host those registries, do you?

About this, we could do one of two things. I leave in 13 days (for the Navy) and I probably won't have access to a computer until 2 months (give or take). So, we could start this now and get the ball rolling, and then you guys can take over, or we could wait. But I would say that we should start it now. With the group of volunteers (and more on the way ;)), it will be fine.

How do you guys want to go about this?

I like the one for the '79 registry. I am new to the 'Vette world, but not new to computers. Where do we go from here?

Could we have a "sub" forum like the 2 that are under this general discussion area?
