GM's first quarter sales in the U.S. great nineteen percent in the first quarter of this year, with Corvette sales increasing 73.1% over the first quarter of last year
General Motors Co. announced today that it sold 642,250 vehicles in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2021, with retail deliveries up 19 percent.Of those 642,250 vehicles delivered, 6,611 were Corvettes which was a 73.1% increase over the 3,820 Corvettes delivered in the first quarter of last year.
Given all of the Bowling Green Corvette Assembly plant shutdowns we've seen this year due to a breakdown in various supply chains due to COVID, it seems strange that Corvette sales grew that much compared to the first quarter of 2020. For many owners who have been waiting months for their car, I'm sure it feels like production has been at a snail's pace!
With all of the vaccines rolling out, and various industries slowly opening back up again, hopefully (fingers crossed) we'll see an even stronger second quarter and some normalcy will return to Corvette production.
