I am looking to replace the seats (there's a suprise) in my 1980 Corvette. I have been researching mounted seat covers and think that might be the way to go. I have a few questions.

1. I have 2' bolsters now. Will a 4" work in the existing seats?
2. Are the mounted seat covers a good choice considering the increased cost? I have zero experience with upholstery.
3. Are there any recommended places to purchase? I have found corvettepartsworldwide.com with a price of $566.99 + $20 packing and $9.99 shipping for leather-like covers.

Thanks

Hi!

And welcome to the CAC! :thumb

Okay... here's my $.02...

1. I have 2' bolsters now. Will a 4" work in the existing seats? Yes- if you have 4" foam pre-mounted covers. Otherwise... 4" covers on 2" foam is a no-go
2. Are the mounted seat covers a good choice considering the increased cost? I have zero experience with upholstery. Yes- it makes it easy and painless to pop the covered cushions in & out
3. Are there any recommended places to purchase? I have found corvettepartsworldwide.com with a price of $566.99 + $20 packing and $9.99 shipping for leather-like covers. I have never used them as a supplier. However... Eckler's, Zip, Corvette Central are all comparable. Mid-America makes their own.

I have pretty much settled on the mounted seat covers. My confusion is with the bolster. From what I have been reading is that I probably should stick with the 2 inch. My next problem will be disassembling the old cushions and replacing the new. Thanks.
