Corvette Specialists

I had a terrible experience with the former owners. Some guy hit my rear passenger quarter panel, and my old mechanic couldn't fit me in, so I took it to them. Besides the repair work being sub-par (there is a distinct line between the old paint and new, from where it was taped for the paint work), they didn't put washers back on my wheel, and after driving off a few miles, the studs broke off the wheel.

Now, this is all with their former owners, and I haven't been back since, but I will not return. I can give you the name of my very trusted mechanic. He is in Woodbridge, but doesn't do body work (that I know of). If you need mechanical work, he's the guy. Hope this helps.

Anyone had any experience with Corvette Specialists in Alexandria VA now in Chantilly?

Last fall, I went to those guys and talked about uprading my LT1 to a 383 stroker. We talked a bit and I gave him an idea of what I was looking for and gave him my business card. I request he send me a written estimate. Well, I never got one. Having someone willing to drop some significant $$, I would have expected something. Not sure if he just didn't have the time, experience or what. ;shrug Not sure what others have experienced, but I won't go back there. Just my two cents.

Not sure what kind of work you need done but if it's body-related, I would suggest Stingrays Auto Body in Purcellville. I've never been there personally (knock on wood never needed to) but have known several people who swear by them. It's a small place so they aren't always fast but the work is top notch on the cars I've seen. We had a CAC meet up several years back in Centreville and a member with a light blue 77 had just gotten his car back from them and the car was flawless. They don't have a website but their phone number is 540-338-3929. I don't know if they do anything beyond body work but it's probably worth a call.

I've also heard good things about Tony's Corvette Shop in Gaithersburg. They are a little pricey though. I called for a price on a few things on my 71 years ago and nearly dropped the phone but then sometimes you get what you pay for.

Good luck!

Tatortot,

I think I remember that. Weren't you sent spinning on the GW Pkwy?:W

Indeed I was! Landed safely though, in a parking spot! Amazing vehicle to drive, even on three wheels.

You know, Most customers that ask for our services, have an idea of what they want done and usually have a budget...I think it is unfair to trash an long time established business out of ego..

The facts are these.. This "Gentleman" came in with some ideas about modifying his engine to a stroker..He did not have the car, in question present, and was more fact finding than anything looking for a ball park estimate...We asked to make him an appointment to at least inspect the car to give him a proper estimate....He said he would get back to us..

He never did..

So, that fact that he was expecting to "drop some significant $$," is absolute B/S...We get so called "TireKickers" all the time that wants Specialists expertise and craftsmanship for a price that Julio around the corner can do cheaper and is willing to learn how to repair a his Vintage Corvette..To this I say, ask your Attorney, Doctor,or any other paid professional to discount his professional service and see what kind of answer you get beyond the laughter...

Most people like this have nothing better to do than complain and most likely don't have the funds to maintain a Corvette anyway..History has proven that if a persons word is no good, chances are his checkbook isn't either..
