Corvettes at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse. :w

The view from atop the lighthouse towards the ocean shows where the lighthouse was moved from right by the water to the present location a few years ago.

You might get a chance to see a repeat of the video about the move on Discovery Channel.

Driving on the Outer Banks may not be the best place to put the top down.

Bumming around the Outer Banks is one of my favorite pastimes. It is a unique scenic experience. I like to walk around the Hatteras Light and Wright Brothers Monument early in the morning before the other tourists arrive. I think we'll go for a long weekend in July. Looks like the RTP club had a good turnout. Corvettes International used to have a yearly tour to Myrtle Beach after school started - never missed it.

How does the new Z cruise compared to the GS?

Cruising over to the Outer Banks with 11 other Corvettes was great. Pat and I were number 8 in the group. Many times we had oncoming traffic flashing their lights at us.
Lots of oncoming Corvettes gave us the :w.

We averaged 22.7 MPG on the drive over. (we started the trip with only 68 miles on the ZR1)
The tires are a little larger than the Grand Sport and it did not have the Magnetic Selective Ride Control (MSRC). But the ZR1 in Tour mode feels about the same as the GS in traffic and turning corners, maybe a little "heavier" in the front. At highway speeds - 65 MPH - they felt the same to me. I had no wind noise with the convertible top on the GS and she was quiet. The ZR1 is probably a little quieter at highway speeds than the GS was.

There is some transmission noise as you wind up the RPM - like any stick shift. There was no noise with the automatic in the GS.
The clutch on the ZR1 is very easy to use.

The Grand Sport Convertible is a great driving car. I had absolutely no complaints about how she handled. If I miss anything it would of course be not being able to put the top down.
