Personally, I welcome black (or silver, grey, or whatever color the manufacturer makes them) boxes. They are an objective statement of what happened. They are also a great disgnostic tool if you are having intermittent failures of elctrical components that are tracked by the box - it is rather hard for the manufacturer to deny coverage if their own recorder says that a part is failing intermittently....
