Corvette chasing 51st GT1 win.
Having reached their 50th victory milestone last time out at Portland, Corvette Racing have set their sets on beginning another half century of victories in the American Le Mans Series at Road America.
Currently embroiled in a tussle with Aston Martin in the GT1 class, Corvette Racing have claimed three wins at the legendary Wisconsin course over the years, most recently with Olivier Beretta and Oliver Gavin edging out Johnny O'Connell and Ron Fellows by a mere 0.142secs in 2005.
A popular circuit amongst the drivers and considered the most 'European' of all American road courses, Road America has been mentioned in the same breath as Spa-Francorchamps over time, with drivers thrilled to return to Elkhart Lake every year.
"I absolutely love the place," said Fellows. "It's great fun to drive. It's got long straights and slow corners that lead to faster corners. When your car is working well, it is an absolute treat to drive there. We'll hit more than 170 mph in the Corvette C6.R, the fastest top speed that we see on any race track in North America. The Kink on the back straight is the most exciting corner on Earth."
