Corvettes to roar into Athens

Athens, AL - Every guy’s — and a lot of gal’s — dream car will be roaring into Athens late this afternoon.
A caravan of at least 60 Corvettes, dating from a third-generation 1978 to two 2009 ZR-1s, will get a police escort into town between 4:30-5 p.m. and park around the square for a viewing, wishing and photo opportunity session.
The caravan, which set out from Beaumont, Texas, Monday morning, is headed to Bowling Green, Ky., for the Labor Day Weekend National Corvette Museum15th anniversary celebration.
