Just trying to prepare myself for the shock when the dealer gives me the bill. What have you paid to replace a sensor, parts + labor. I think I have one gone bad and I want to replace it before my BG trip next month.

Crazy thing is, it worked when I test-drove the car but hasn't worked since. Always displays XXX.

Thanks!

could be quite expesnive, as I thought the sensors for earlier C5's were out of production?

Basically it is only a tire removal (The sensor has to be removed if done right)and (Reinstall sensor) mount tire and balance. Then reprogram the tire monitor system. $100 bucks for the sensor. Figure around $160 total. Anthing more than that I would complain to them.

Did you try reprogramming?

What's involved in reprogramming?

Eric,

Keep the old sensor if you can in case another goes bad down the road. I read somewhere on the internet (can't find it right now) about a company selling rebuilt sensors for $55 if you send them your old one.

:w See you soon!

Not that it's any consolation, but, every non-Z06 C5 will run into this eventually. The batteries in these tire pressure sensors only have about a 5-year life span. Certain parts departments, like Gene at Fred Beans Chevrolet, or Bob at Ken Fichtner Chevrolet sell them at cost. Nate at Corvette Garage also sells for like $65.

Thanks great, Bob. With prices like that, it's not cost effective to ship old ones to be fixed.
