Couple sue car dealer under ‘Lemon Law’ for allegedly malfunctioning Corvette

GRETNA – A couple is suing a local new car dealer after the engine and transmission of a Chevrolet Corvette they bought allegedly failed shortly after purchase and they were not offered a proper replacement.

Mite Meggs Jr. and Corrine Meggs filed suit against Lesson Chevrolet Company Inc. and General Motors LLC in the 24th Judicial District Court on Sept. 26.

The Meggses allege that on Oct. 3, 2013 they bought a new 2014 Chevrolet Corvette from Lesson Chevrolet Company for $56,135. The plaintiffs contend that over six months after purchasing the car, it began shaking and making bad sounds and they brought it into the dealership with an engine problem at which time they were told the car would need a new engine and transmission. The Meggses assert they made a deal with the defendants in which they would receive a 2015 Chevrolet Corvette that had a different engine to ensure a similar situation would not reoccur and because all of the 2014 car models at the dealership had the same engine which they did not trust. However, the plaintiffs claim that when they received the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette model it was more costly due to different features and in fact had the same engine as the car they had before.

The car dealers story line (if it is true) sure has a lot of holes in it.......

I certainly want to believe/hope this is some sort of misunderstanding where the dealership told them a different engine meaning a different physical engine and the couple thought different engine model. Just seems crazy. Why not just have a new engine and tranny put in and call it good? It's a warrant fix, right?

The plaintiffs story doesn't make much sense. The car needed a complete new engine AND transmission? They didn't want another Corvette because it had the same type of engine which 'they did not trust'? The dealer didn't offer to fix it? Give me a break.:eyerole

Sounds like buyer's remorse. Screw 'em.

Or their just tired of a dealership lying to them about the diagnosis, the engine being different in 2015, and not telling them about the vehicle cost differences.........

I doubt the service side of the dealership was even involved in any diagnosis or repairs, this sounds like typical sales gimmicks.

With only hearing one side of the story, possibly none of it is true.

A quick search of the internet shows the only source of the article is the same one linked. Whether it's the owners who are the issue or the dealership (or both), there isn't enough detail provided to discern the nature of the failure or the suggested remedy.
