Hi everyone,

In preparation for the wonderful WI winter, I'd like to purchase a cover for my '01 convertible. The car will be kept in an attached, but unheated garage.

I've heard that flannel is the best material for an indoor only cover, but I've also read that the some of the lining can get stuck to the canvas top and become hard to remove. So, I've also been considering a cover made out of a material called Dustop. Any experiences or advice?

Also, I've purchased a Battery Tender Plus to keep my battery in charged. Should I be concerned with using it on a covered car?

Thanks for a great forum!

Go online and look for "Califorina Car Covers". They are in S. Calif. and offer many different covers. Good Luck

Thanks, cruzer82!

I checked out the California Covers website. Lots of choices there, but I'm still uncertain which is best for my situation. And, if Dustop is the way to go, is the $179 California Car cover really worth the $40 premium over covers made with the same material that I've seen for sale at Mid America, Eckler's, etc?

Any other cover/Battery Tender users have any opinions?

Thanks in advance,

I don't know if they are the best or better than any others, I would just suggest (it's stupit to say because I know you will), getting a good quality cover. I thought CCC would give you an idea of how many choices you can have. I have heard that Mid America, Eckler's, and others sell cover made by CCC but under another name.
One other suggestion I would make is if you are storing your Vette (which we DON'T do out here.....HA), for a long time and you are in a wet area, hang a 40 or 50 watt light bulb inside the car to keep the moisture out. I discovered this when I had a boat docked year-round on the water. It works.......
Good Luck and we'll see you guys in the spring........:beer :w :Steer :v ;LOL

40-50 watt bulb hanging inside? I'm assuming it has to be plugged in and turned on too? Anyhow, I like the fit of CCCC car covers. I've also herad you may be able to pay less for their cover at other places. I live right around the corner and usually haggle the price down a bit in person. I've had the Noah fabric. It is good , but when it does start to break down, 4-5 years outside usage in CA, it really just starts to disintegrate. Cotton fabric is easier to have the wife repair when it rips. Flannel will tend to trap dust and may put small scratches if used daily. Long term indooors that shouldn't be a problem. Never heard about the flannel sticking to the convertible top. I may be a new Corvette owner, but have years of experience with car cover out here. BHMA also sells great covers, but also pricey.

PJay,

To answer your question about a Battery Tender used with a covered car, we do just that with my Grand Sport and have not encountered a single problem!
