I ordred cragar ss series 61 rims for my 65. My turbins that were on there were 15x6 and cragar recomended the same. When installing them they are going to require a spacer of around 3/8" ,is this normal . The reason Iam asking is the rim already pushes the tire out to just beyond the fender and with the spacer I think its going to look funny sticking out that far. By the way my tires are 215-70r-15 and they work fine with the old turbines but the rims are getting to wobbly with age and cant get them balanced right. Any help with what you have done on yours would be a big help. Roland.

C2's have very little tolerance for rims whose backspacing is less than the stock wheels; if you don't want to start breaking fiberglass ($$$), I'd recommend you get Cragars with the correct backspacing that clear the calipers without spacers. Spacers increase the stress on the lug studs and are dangerous.

We put the same Cragar SS Series 61 wheels on Kelly's '81 & it did take a spacer to keep the wheel away from rubbing the brakes -
Boy do we get alot of positive comments on the wheels ... they look absoulutely great and are not even close to rubbing the fiberglass .....
By the way the spacers are very safe ... many people (including us) race with the spacers in & nothing ever moves ...

Thanks for the replys. I was told that cragar only makes two rims in the 15x6 size and the other one is worse than the one they tried on mine. So if I go with the cragars and the spacers should I accept the wheel going beyond the fender well, even if its just a little. Roland.

If I were you I'd call Cragar Wheels - 1/800-367-5710 -Tony Cortez helped me & he was very nice ... I bought Cragar Series 61 Super Sport - and the Spinner center caps (I haven't put them on yet).

Go visit their website & look around http://www.cragar.com/

I believe the part numbers I needed were - Part # 09095-2 - Spacer Kit # 29200 - I also ordered Chrome Lug nuts 7/16" right hand w/ .800 locking lugs from McGuard or Gorilla - but they can tell you the correct numbers.

Here is what they told me -
Rim Size 15x7;
Bolt Circle 5 X 4.50 - 4.75 - 5.00
Back Spacing 4.12 INCHES
Offset 3MM, .117 INCHES
Center Cap C29 09090
CHEVROLET CORVETTE 1963 - 1982 SPACR REQUIRD

Sorry for the long reply ,,, I hope this helps ...
