Went to leave for work this AM and the transmission shift cable snapped. There isn't a single replacement in town for it, but NAPA should have a new one for me tommrrow, so instead of dropping it off first thing in the AM for new rear gearing, I'll be installing a new cable. I sure hope the gear install is problem free.

Sorry to hear that.
Good though that you'll get a replacement shortly..
Keep up the spirits..
:w

Hang in there...

when its done it will be like new and well worth the repair cost im sure.
could always be worse. hope it goes good, let us know how it turns out.

I'm up for it....and maybe the Vette will be too :L How bout August 22nd or 29th. If not, it would have to be september 19th or later. Whats a poker run  If it last one there has to buy, I'll camp out the night before.

Hope the cable replacement goes well, I just hate it when something breaks on the vette but when it does I usually use it as justification to replace everything the broken part touches.

I'd say the part that stinks is that when you replace the cable, you won't get any performance out of it. It's one of those parts that either works, or it doesn't. good luck.

It looks to be an easy enough task. The only thing I'm concerned about is adjustment. But the shop manual should have that info.

Replace everything the cable touchs.....hmm sounds like you are suggesting a richmond 6 speed

I suppose you could say the performance will improve....current 1/4 mile time would be somewhere in the neighboor hood of 17.0 minutes. I'm no worlds strongest man competitor. :lol

(sorry for stomping all over this thread ...)

When's the new Packo's opening downtown by the new stadium?

I grew up on the east side .... many moons ago - but I can still taste those dogs!

Go Hens!

:beer

hi-jack it all day long....i was just bemoaning my morning

good question on teh downtown one. and I quote:

Although there is a lot of renovation work to be done, Packo’s is planning for the grand opening of the downtown location to coincide with the 2005 opening day of the Toledo Mud Hens.

what a PITA job. skill wise its about a 1.5 but damn, nothing seemed to fit or work right. Its shifting again, so i guess thats a good thing:L
