I'm looking to take the motor out of my 76 next spring and just swap it out with a crate motor. Has anybody else put a crate motor in a 76 with the stock hood? I want one that will fit the stock hood clearance. Let me know! Thanks.

Sure, should be no problem as long as the intakes/carbs remain the same. I did a ZZ4 in my 75, used the aluminium intake that came with the motor and my original Q-Jet. You might have to use a drop base air cleaner but that's no major deal.

If you start switching intakes you might have an issue with hood clearances, I'm not an expert on the 76 hood, some years can use an Elelbrock Air Gap some cannot.
