How do you think of your C4? After 2 years and 20K it still operates flawlessly. We address so many problems here that it get's you wondering about these cars.:ugh

I've had The Gold Bomb, Ol' Blue, Big Red, Blue Angel and various other un-named vehicles and they all were somewhat prone to manufacturing defects. The Corvette has a high strung, fragile personna I just haven't seen in mine.

How about you? Did you get a good one? Let's hear from the lucky ones as I knock on wood all over my office.

Mines pretty good. I have no complaints.

I'm the 3rd owner, I bought it 2 years ago with 112K miles, I put 13K miles since with no big problems.
I tuned it up and replaced allot of parts: IAC, EGR Valve, U-joints, etc.

Mine's got 110,XXX on the clock and I had the trans rebuilt a couple of months ago. No real big deal though, 4L60E's are know for wearing 3-4 clutches. Appearently the previous owner lugged the engine around in over drive and wore the clutches. I had the whole thing freshened and works like a charm now. Only other thing is a leak in the passenger side plastic tank on the radiator, that required me replacing the radiator.

I had an 87 that needed a lot of attention to the small things. Needed a few relays (headlight and MAF burn in), tune-up, ignition module, IAC, but nothing big there either. I have to admit, that all 3 of my C4's have been good cars and not terribly hard to work on either.

I know as soon as I say this something's gonna happen...:L BUT,

My C4 has been great so far. It's been my daily driver for the last year and I've really had nothing come up. Any repairs that I've had were actually mods to personalize it to my needs/wants .

I bought it w/ 21k on the clock and I'm now sitting at 35k and repairs have been virtually non-existent aside from the things I "wanted" to do: mods, stereo, plugs, fuel filter, battery & oil/fluid changes.

Well, I did replace the master, slave & feed line in the clutch hydraulic system but that was not out of necessity. It was under advisement from the ZFDoc cuz I was losing a small amount of clutch fluid over time and figured "what the heck". Money well spent cuz the clutch feels great and haven't lost a drop since.

I am replacing all 4 shocks cuz the 2 fronts are leaking a bit but another non-essential fix, just want everything right.

I am now looking for a Hybrid commuter car so the the Vette will not be my daily driver much longer but in the interim, it has been great and makes the commute almost something to look forward to.

Our 95 has been a great car with only minor repairs which is expected for a 10 year old car. The 86 is another story, but it wasn't taken care of by the prior owner. But I think she's finally starting to appreciate the new life I've put into her .

After I got rid of the stock injectors (replaced with Accel 24 lb. ones) I have no complaints other than the stock Bose Gold system, JUNK!!!!!

All in all mine has been good after 119000 miles on the clock. The only thing I had to fight was the check engine light would make a "weekly" appearance or it would seem to be at the time. As it were I did get that those problems fixed after much hair pulling :L

Four years, three trips to NY, one to Miami, 3 to Louisiana, one to Carlisle, 4 trips to Tail of the Dragon and for the most part, (U-joint not withstanding) she's performed better then I could ever have hoped for. Biggest repair was a clutch which doesn't really count as an unexpected repair.

I have only had mine for 6k miles so a little early. Needed to put brakes in almost right away and now the intake is leaking oil and the belt tensionor needs a new bearing. But with 72k on it and 15 yrs old that would be about normal. Everything else seems to be working well so far.

After 13 1/2 years of owning the same C4, I can't complain.

I think forums like this and complaining are the nature of the beast. Those of us without complaints don't usually say too much - the silent majority and all that.

Call me crazy but...

Just turned 150,000 on my 90 model. I've had it for the past 10,000 miles/1 year and I've had to replace the A/C compressor, brake pads, brake rotors, brake master cylinder, vacuum hoses, headlights (due to vandalismad ), tires, rear hatch weather stripping, 1 brake light bulb, 2 side turn signal bulbs, water pump, battery, spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, belt tensioner pully, water pump, headlight controller box, cruise control whatchimacallit, headlight gear bushings, oil pressure tranducer, valve cover gaskets, alternator, serpentine belt, brake booster, mufflers, y-pipe, all 4 shocks, and a few other minor parts. All of this stuff was "has to be fixed to run". I have barely scratched the "I want to do this" stuff list.
But... for some reason I still love the car.

The only things I have had to fix on mine is the stuff that comes with normal wear and tear....the first owner had no mechanical ability, so he just let them slide.... I did replace the exhaust system and the top..[[they were orignal]]

i bought my '85 nine years ago with 33K miles. presently i have a tad over 94K miles. the thing has been a very reliable car - it only let me down once. a couple of years ago, i was traveling home from visiting my mom's when the fuel pump went out, so i had to have a flat bed take it to the nearest chevy dealer. it was a saturday night - 75 miles from home, so the car had to sit at a dealer over the weekend. i have however replaced the 6 u-joints, the steering rack, brakes, tires, cooling system service (twice), transmission service (twice), a tune-up, and a bunch of oil changes. i guess 85% has been maintenance stuff. right now i could use a fresh set of valve seals and maybe a fresh tune-up. everything else has been cosmetic. my '85 looks and runs better today than it did the day i brought it home -

I can not tell about my current vette but, I will say something about my first one. A 92 convertible with 87K miles on May 31, 1997. On Jan 7, 2003 it burned with 195K miles, the day before she was punchin' 145 mph...thats all I have to say

They'd brake if you do not use them, if you get a "noise, shakin', or else" get on the freeway, step on it. That would be like when you have the flu, you cough and all the yellow greenish crud comes out ....you feel better don't you? She will too

My '84 does, too. Had it since 'Spring of '85 and it got much better once MacPherson Chevrolet stopped working on it (warranty).

I have to sound like a proud father... I think my LT4 was screwed together by a crew that had just received a raise after they came off a nice, week long vacation.

My 96 is the tightest, best interior/body fitting, most reliable C4 I have ever owned (this is my fourth C4). I’m keeping this one forever!

Mine is at 35K miles and I am a weekend driver. Problems happen here and there like any other car. Right now I have bearing noise from one of the belt tension pulleys and a rattling noise from the dash pad. Will get them fixed as soon as I have some time. But overall it is a nice, strong and very sexy car...
