I was looking at the specs of the L83 engine (on an '82) and it said the Induction System was a Cross Fire Fuel Injector and I was just curious as to how exaclty that worked.

And then I looked at the induction system of the '75 and it was "1 x 4 bbl Rochester". What exactly are "Rochester"s? Thanks! :D

I just scrolled down a little bit more on the page and in the Model Year Highlights, I found this comment:

"New for '82 was Crossfire Fuel Injection which utilized two computer controlled fuel injectors capable of making 80 adjustments per second."

What exactly are the fuel injectors? Is this L83 a carburated engine?

Thanks! :) :D

The L83 is an injected engine not carbed. Rochester is a brand name for a carburator. :eyerole

The injectors "mist" your fuel and combine it with the air in the intake. A little more forceful than carbs. There are 2 one on each plane of the intake

Okay, thanks I understand what it does and how. Thanks again! :D
