I have a 97 Coupe, that disengages the cruise control, when going on a down hill. On level road it is fine. Has anyone experienced this problem. I have taken to my local dealership, and they have not been able to fix. The disengage code is P1571.
Thanks for your input.

HI there,
Actually, unless your 1571 is a C, for current code, this is classified as normal, and does not have anything to do with your cruise control.
What really has been seen is misadjusted brake switches underneath the dash board, creating automatic shut off of the cruise control.
If you would remove the lower hush panel, you will see 2 brake switches, located in front of the brake pedal, on a metal bracket.
If you push these 2 switches forward, they will click a few times.
Then, with only 2 fingers, pull up on the brake pedal.
This will adjust your cruise control switch, and then take it for a test drive, and let us know what you come up with.
My guess, if the adjustment is dont correctly, your cruise will work fine from this moment on.
Allthebest, and please keep us posted, c4c5:hb

C4C5 Well you did it. I did what you said and it is fixed. Now can you fix the $250.00 bill I paid to the dealership. HA HA Anyway, thank you so very much for your expertise.
