I thought I would ask before I even start.I have an Air gap intake and wonder if the stock cruise control will work?If not does anyone know of a good aftermarket cruise. (for my 82) Thank's

Hotrodd,

Help me out for a second (because it has been a while since I looked at a stock manifold). What does the manifold have to do with the cruise control?

I think as long as you supply vacuum, and build a bracket to hold the cable you will be in business.

There are some nice aftermarket units that have been out for years. They actually use a pulse off a spark plug wire instead of a speedo input to maintain speed. They are smaller and lighter and you could easily tuck and hide it up under the fender. I am considering slapping one on Killer soon as my foot gets tired keeping it steady on the highway. Plus I might be able to best my current best of 12 mpg on the highway with a steady constant pedal.

Hey Chris,
What kind of a cruise control could you hide on a stock '69. Going to Daytona in a couple of weeks, and the long I-4 ride would be nice with a little foot rest.

Rick

They have them at Pep Boys, Autozone, and Discount Auto.

There are a couple of different brands. There is also a couple of different brands in JC Whitney.

How intense (difficult) are the one's from AutoZone?

Thank's chris, the stock one has that big ugly vacumn diaphram that I don't think would fit under my air cleaner. Now I am headed in the right direction with a electronic so you can hide it.I fond one that is nice at Dakota digitol 350.00, stainless cable for the throttle that will match my Locar throttle cable. I am sure electronic would work better than the old vacumn. I am going to Pep boy's after bit and look also. Thank's again. Oh Chris I was hoping to shoot color on my pick-up but the sealer had bad orange peel, real ruff.I wonder if I put it on too dry? Nice thing about painting is you can fix about anything with sandpaper! It is Nason 422-23 sealer and I have to scuff it up anyway since it has been 24 hrs. but it was way to rough to shoot color. Thank's again this place save's my butt quite often!

Hotrodd,

Sounds like you had to "hot" of a reducer in the sealer. I usually use the mid temp reducer in virtually all situations. You really need to match the shooting temp with the reducer dry rate to keep it as wet and smooth as possible.

You are correct, painting over the orange peel on the sealer will yield a oranged peeled paint job.

Of course, another go around with wet 500 with some soapy water and plenty of fresh water to flush it will ensure an even slicker scratch free final finish.
