2000 MILLINEUM YELLOW COUPE
Recent problem has come up, while driving down interstate with cruise on the cruise control will suddenly kick off. Can reset it and will stay on for just a few seconds to not kicking off. Any ideas? Thanks from Yellowvett. B.T.W. the car is a 2000 coupe

My Jaguar did this. The guy at the shop said a brake switch was failing? I know it's not much help but sure seems to be reasonable.

That does make alot of sense and would cause the problem. I would send c4c5specialist a link to this thread and see what he thinks.

My 98 will do that if I hit a bump big enough to cause lateral movement sideways. I think it's supposed to do that if the lateral force sensor kicks enough.
Otherwise, I would be looking at the brake switch adjustment.

HI there,
Definately readjust the brake switch.
You will not usually have to replace it, ONLY adjust.
Push both brake switches towards the front of the car, you will hear them ratchet some.
Then, using 2 fingers under the brake pedal, lift up to set the switches.
DO NOT pull hard, just enough to hear them ratchet again and that should be it.
Allthebest, c4c5

Hey guys, just had a lull at work and went out to adjust the swith on the brake as suggested. It woked! Thanks to C4C5 Specialist for your input. Sure glad it was something simple. After 135,000 miles i'm still very impressed with my C5

WOW ! I can't believe I was sorta right! Guess that's what they mean about experience is the best teacher.

Glad you got it fixed
