Gone but not forgotten
AS some of you know I have been chasing a cranking non running problem for the last week. As stated in another post that problem is resolved but when I picked up the car the cruise did not work. Took the car back to the shop and they ran diagnostics on everthing including the brake pedal switch. I kept telling them it did not have any vacuum so finally they pulled the cover on the right side over of the engine and sure enough there is a vacuum valve there. The hose had broken off the valve, we replaced the valve for about 7.00 bucks and everything is fine. I offer this because even a knowlegeble mechanic who has worked on hundreds of cruise controls got momentarily side tracked by this. So if you are experiencing vacuum problems with your heater/AC distribution system or other vacuum operated items you should check this out first. The mechanic did say they have a tendency to brake because they are in a place on the Corvette that gets hot. on other GM cars this is usually mounted in a place away from the engine, but they still stock them at the shop because they get brittle over time and brake.
