AS some of you know I have been chasing a cranking non running problem for the last week. As stated in another post that problem is resolved but when I picked up the car the cruise did not work. Took the car back to the shop and they ran diagnostics on everthing including the brake pedal switch. I kept telling them it did not have any vacuum so finally they pulled the cover on the right side over of the engine and sure enough there is a vacuum valve there. The hose had broken off the valve, we replaced the valve for about 7.00 bucks and everything is fine. I offer this because even a knowlegeble mechanic who has worked on hundreds of cruise controls got momentarily side tracked by this. So if you are experiencing vacuum problems with your heater/AC distribution system or other vacuum operated items you should check this out first. The mechanic did say they have a tendency to brake because they are in a place on the Corvette that gets hot. on other GM cars this is usually mounted in a place away from the engine, but they still stock them at the shop because they get brittle over time and brake.:beer

My cruise stopped working and tracked it to small plastic vacuum switch that had crumbled to dust leaving 3 vacuum hoses sucking air. It was under right side fuel rail cover. New part was $4.99 at Ecklers. However it did not fix my AC vents. AC only blows out the defrost vents. Looking for a fix.

Air Distribution

There are several threads regarding the control of which vents air is blown through. The default distribution is for the air to come out the defrost when the system has failed. Often the cause is the distribution control under the dash near the gas pedal, or the vacuum supply to that vacuum distributor. Use the 'search' tab above to look up A/c Distribution and some good info should show up. Many of the threads are 1+ years old.
Hope this helps.

Pictures

No I do not have any pictures. If you remove the fuel rail cover on the right side of the engines as you are setting in the car, there is a little plastic valve with three vacuum hoses running to it. On my car the hose connector was broken off the valve. It looked like heat and time had made it brittle.

I would be happy to post a picture if someone could guide me through how to post pictures. I am technically challenged by how to do that. I really would like to learn how. I will go and take a picture and have it ready.

I hope this works.
