Hmmmm. Can you post a link to the photo here and I'll take a look at it, Ryan. It may be larger than avatar photo file size. The limit for custom avatars is 150 by 150 pixels or 43.9 KB (whichever is smaller).

To give you a point of reference, my current avatar dimension is 150 X 89 and the filesize is 43.3kb.

thanks for your help. i went to my photobucket account but how can i tell what KB or how many Pixels the photo is? it's a simple photo so i can't see size being a problem but i'll go down the road & try something at least. thanks again.
