I’ve done a ton of work fixing electrical problems on mynewest vette. Things like the clock, horn, wipers, seat belt warning system andthe alarm system (still need a new horn). The biggest problem I have is thatthe previous owner just cut wires rather than fixing the real problem. …like: ratherthan fixing the alarm system, he cut the wires to the hood switch, the alarm keyswitch and the “door ajar” switches. I do have the alarm system working, butthe hood switch wires are missing. Which leads me to my real question. :ugh

There is a bunch of wires coming out of a wire loom near thefront passenger side of the engine compartment. I’ve tried to match thingsusing a wiring diagram, but these just have me stumped. I’m 99% sure that thesewires go to the head light warning system and the alarm system, but I can’tfigure it all out.

If anyone can, please have a look at the pictures I haveattached. They have more details about the wires themselves.

No ideas at all? ;help Can someone post a picture of their wires?

do you have a factory service manual,or the
assembly instruction manual???
they would be your best bet for finding out where the wires came from and go to....

I think you'll need to find somebody with a early C3. On my 81 the headlight, horn and cc wires all run on the drivers side. On the passengers side only the AC and aux fan wires.

What you may find on that location (rear engine pass side) is the wiring for the starter that goes to the ignition and maybe some wires for the temp switch outputs?

Greetings Peter

I have a 163 page service manual, two alarm wiring diagrams, and two car wiring diagrams, but none of them are helping much.

That's what I'm looking for. The problem is that the things that don't work because they have been cut and removed, like the headlight warning system and the hood alarm switch, show them as different color wires (on the wiring diagrams) than the ones that have been cut. The strange thing is that I think everything else works.

Just trying to help -but your photos are small, dark and out of focus. It appears that your car is somewhat modified- the wiring cover they're poking out of is NOT factory, so it's hard to say much of benefit.

have you tried to follow the wires back to where they start???
time consuming, but I don't know what else to tell you unless you can find another '72
to compare it to...

I've tried to make the photos a bit better.

I haven't done that yet. I fear that may be my only option.:ugh

If memory serves, there should be no headlight circuitry wiring on the passenger's side of the compartment. All the forward lamp harness stuff is on the driver's side. Passenger's side wiring is the engine harness. It is possible the two wires you have found on the passenger's side are the hood switch for the theft alarm.

I'm thinking they could also be wires for the heaterfan relay or the airco relay?
Is the fan for your heater still working or only at 1 speed?

Greetings Peter
