I have a 94 LT1. Recently a problem has risen in that when it is wet outside or the humidity is extremely high my car will miss and ping when you stomp the throttle a little. If you ease down on the gas it runs fine. It only does this when there is dampness in the air. My car has 34000 miles on it. My old porsche did the same thing and I discovered it was that the nock sensors were bad. Does the 94 LT1vette have nock sensors? Also I know cracks in the distributor cap can cause this or even bad plug wires. My wires seem to be fine. Anyone experienced this before?

When the weather is dry the car runs fine.

My first guess is the plug wires. Could the pinging actually be a spark arcing? Anyway, when it starts doing it again, stop and listen for the clicking of an arc. If it's dark, you might even see a spark. If your valve covers leak any, that can trash your wires.

The Optispark distributor is also a culprit. The 94's and earlier can get moisture in them. A little extra humidity might put your car over the edge.
