I can't find what the original sport stripe color was on the vette, at some point it was changed so I think I know what it was but an online search can't confirm it. Any ideas?

also is there a way to find out how many 2 tone vettes had the sport stripe? I am wondering if it makes it more rare?

I didn't realize this (hubby did) but the whole car had been repainted not just the back end and they didn't do the stripe on the hood, that was news to me, they really did a lousy paint job whoever did it.

All two tones had a tape accent stripe seperating the two colors. Colors in the stripe depended on the exterior colors. I am not certain this included a hood stripe; some of the hood stripes are aftermarket.

I am confused because it almost looks like the original strip had 2 stripes an orange one and a red one how very 80's) breaking up the silver and claret. So sport stripe is just a fancy word for 1 pinstripe around the car?

Sounds correct. If memory serves, the 80-82 NCRS Judging Manual lists the stripe colors and they are also on the 81 dealer brochure.

...So sport stripe is just a fancy word for 1 pinstripe around the car...

They call that "Marketing."
