1980 Frost Beige Corvette
You guys were such a great help over the years I had my frost beige 1980 until a moronic truck driver totaled it last Spring. So now I have a 1982 Collectors Edition. The only small problem it had when I got it was the gas gauge was off, showing the incorrect fuel level, making me run out of gas once. After a bit of research I decided to replace my fuel sending unit because I put the gauge from my 1980 in and there was no difference so I knew it wasn't a bad fuel gauge. I'd seen a few instances of people replacing these then not being able to get the car started. Well, after I replaced mine . . . nope, it wouldn't start. So I pulled it back out and found that I must have forgotten to plug in the wire to the connector on the bottom. That'll take care of it, right? Nope. Pulled it out again and realized I'd put together the two connectors wrong. Boy that was dumb. This'll do it. Put it back together . . . still nothing! The car's trying to turn over strong but it's obvious it's not getting fuel. The 3 little hoses on the new fuel sending unit are good and connected tightly but apparently that's not the problem. Anybody have any ideas, suggestions? (help !!!)

Put a test light between the wires going into your sending unit for the fuel pump circuit and then crank the car and see if it lights up. If it does then your problem is with the new fuel pump. You can also dry test it and see if the fuel pump motor is spinning.
