hello ,i research what the differential type(dana 36 or 44) of my vette 87 vin 1g1yy2187h5102978 code rpo

the differential carrier has the number GM at top 411215 and down 140840009,because i will repair it soon and order form Eckler's soon too

You have a Dana-44. It was used in all the standard shift vettes.

One minor clarification is needed here. ;)

The C-4 Dana 36 was the only axle available in 1984 Corvettes. In 1985, Chevrolet brought out the Dana 44 which was similar to the 80-82 Corvette axle, but not interchangeable. The Dana 44 axle is considerably stronger, but not indestructible. The Dana 36 and the Dana 44 axles were used through 1996, the Dana 36 going with automatic equipped cars.
